Commissions
What the Commission Process looks like.
Availability Consideration
To help guide you through my commission process, here you will find everything you need to know. Commissions are subject to my current availability so it's best to contact me as early as possible.
Client's Preferences and Composition Design: Storytelling Through Art
If you have an inspiring place, furry friend or subject, I’m happy to take a look! I enjoy talking about what makes a great painting and what the subject means to a client.
The first step in my commission process involves a detailed consultation with you to determine: the artwork's dimensions, your budget, timeline and the subject matter in-depth, helping to inform my composition and design. Each painting is a narrative; your input is invaluable in creating that story.
Reference Image & Photographer's Permission
Good quality and high resolution reference images are crucial for a successful painting as poor lighting or a grainy photo will compromise a painting's potential. Before work begins, I also require confirmation that the photographer and the subject captured in the picture have permitted the image to be used.
Photographic Services
For local clients needing a suitable photo, I offer a $50/hr photographic service.
Pricing Variables
The commission's final cost will depend on various factors: the size of the piece, the complexity of the subject matter, and the time frame for completion. Custom wood cradle canvases will be a cost separate from the cost of a painting. I am happy to put a shipping quote together for you and this cost will also be separate from the commission price.
The Creative Process & Progress Updates
Once I've gathered all the necessary information and have a clear understanding of your vision, I will require a 50% deposit. Throughout the creation process, I will start with a preliminary sketch and continue to send you progress photos to update you on how the artwork is going.
Copyright Ownership
The final artwork's copyright is retained solely by me, the artist. This means I reserve the right to use the artwork for promotional purposes, portfolio inclusion, and similar activities.
Thanks for your interest and feel free to send me any questions you have.
