This series explores my love of Japanese cultural traditions infused to me by my grandmother, Toshiye Yamamoto. I have found much solace in discovering images from these simpler times and inspiration in turn of the century every day life scenes captured by photographer T. Enami of the Meiji and Tiasho eras. Growing up, my Grandmother littered my path with everything from teaching me to count in Japanese, cooking and the arts which she had all over her home in the form of sculptures, paintings and in the beautiful Kimono she gave me when I was a teenager to remind me of the beautiful aesthetic of my heritage.
